Celebrating the beauty of nature and all of God's blessings

Animal Blessings

For All Animals
Blessed are You, Lord God,
Maker of all living creatures,
On the fifth and sixth days of creation
You called forth the fish in the sea,
birds in the air, and animals on the land.
You inspired St. Francis to call all animals
his brothers and sisters.
We ask You to bless this animal.
By the power of Your love,
enable us to live according to Your plan.
May we always praise You
for Your Beauty in creation.
Blessed are You, Lord our God, in all Your creatures!

For A Sick Animal
Heavenly Father,
You created all things for Your glory
and made us stewards of this creature.
If it is Your will, restore it to health and strength.
Blessed are You, Lord God,
and holy is Your name for ever and ever.

A Jewish Blessing

We praise You, eternal God, ruler of the universe.
You make Your love and loyalty
apparent to us through this animal.
We celebrate You as we celebrate this opportunity
To become better people through caring for and loving this pet.
We thank You for allowing us its care
As You allow us Your eternal guardianship.

Prayer of Peace - St. Francis
Lord make me
an instrument of your peace

Where there is hatred,
Let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, Joy.

O Divine Master grant that I may
Not so much seek to be consoled
As to console;
To be understood,
As to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
And it is in dying that we are
Born to eternal life.

Amen
